present FLY FISHING BASICS
The Minnesota Fly Fishers, a Twin Cities based club, hope to offer our 34th annual weekend introduction to the fun and enjoyment of fly fishing again in 2022.
UPDATE CONCERNING OUR SPRING CLASS
I'm a little late getting this posted. We have cancelled our class for 2021, although there remains a faint chance that we may offer something in late summer or early fall.
Even though COVID vaccinations are going well, it seems we're not out of the woods yet, what with new variants showing up periodically, and the unknowns around transmissibility even if vaccinated.
An email with this info went out to all who were registered or on our waiting list a couple of weeks ago. We'll keep you posted of any developments, and we look forward to the possibility of holding the class in April of next year.
Thank you for your understanding.
We've got plenty of skilled instructors. With focused sessions and several hours of casting practice, students easily learn the basics of this engaging sport. The $75 tuition for this class includes two days of instruction, use of our gear, handouts, and workshop materials.
- Basic Equipment - rods, reels, lines, gear
- Tactics for streams, rivers, and lakes
- Ancillary Equipment
- See the syllabus here
What About Gear?
We provide rods & reels for use during the class - no need to bring your own unless you want to. In fact, if you don't have gear, wait until after you take the class! We'll help you select the right gear for the type of fish you want to pursue.
There's not a better value in fly fishing instruction!
Start yourself, your spouse, a child, or a friend on a lifetime sport. Let the Minnesota Fly Fishers introduce you to the fun and adventure of fly fishing.
When and where?
The next class will be held rain or shine on a Saturday & Sunday in the spring of 2021, at the Lynnhurst Community Center, located in South Minneapolis at 1345 Minnehaha Pkwy. W. We'll have loaner equipment available if you need it.
